The Rotary Club of Modesto Sunrise was chartered on March 27th 1985.  Since its inception it has been very active in community and international projects. We are a group of 100 dedicated professional men and women whose motto is "Service Above Self". Through our various   fundraising efforts we have donated in excess of $900,000 to different projects, charities and groups

Meeting Events                                 

                       New inductee into the MSR club this week was Scott Lucas. Welcome Scott.

                       Joel is officially out of COG and received his new name badge. Congratulations!

                 Special Olympics - Heidi Offenheimer - Thanked all those who helped with the

                 special Olympics and presented Mark with a T-Shirt.    

                 1st Tee - Ron Ramont said that 1st T scholarships were awarded this week. One 

                 Maria Martinez. Ron's daughter was also a recipient of a scholarship.          

                 

 

                 All Star Game - Carl Tognolini, the All Star Game being held June 9th at John 

                 Thurman Field. There are 2 games scheduled for that day at 1pm and 7pm. 

                 Our responsibility is 10 tickets ($40). If you aren't going to use them or give 

                 them away, give tickets back to Carl and he will distribute them. If you are 

                 to advertise in the program see Jim. Ad's run $60, $90, & $145. Need 

                 volunteers to help at the 2 gates to sell programs.

                 Blood Drive - Sid Losher again gave blood this month.

                 Debra Fusco - asking for donations for the Relay for Life Walk.

                 Chris Currie - announced that once again the Doubletree responded to the

                 need for sheets and bedding at Caminul Felix orphanage in Romania.

                 Literacy Program - Adam W. this week is the last week for the project.

                 Kick out Party - The kick out party will be July 7th at 5pm at the Blom's.

                 District Assembly - Jim N. spoke about the District Assembly last week

                 There were about a dozen from our club who attended. Dave G. was the 

                 key note speaker and gave a great talk about world peace.

                 Tattoo Removal Program - Thursday, June 21, 6-7pm 604 Hamden      

                 Ln, Modesto (Bob Fores home) Adult Beverages and appetizers.

                 Review, planning, refining guidelines, staffing and funding issues for 07-08.

                                                                 

                 

                 

 

                                                          Speakers this week:   

                 Our presenter this week was Nick Mascitelli who spoke on the Honduras

                 Wheelchair project. Both Nick & Gary Boudreaux were on this trip. The Hope

                 Haven International Ministries builds wheelchairs for 3rd world countries.

                 The wheelchairs are refurbished through the South Dakota prison system and

                 the shipment went to Tegucigalpa was paid for by Food for the Poor. Some 

                 wheelchairs were taken to a home for the children with Cerebral Palsy. A clinic

                 was set up in the Olympic Stadium and wheelchairs were fitted and given to those

                 with polio, paraplegics, amputees, and other deformities. In addition to 

                 wheelchairs and number of crutches, walkers and other walking aids were given

                 away. A total of 195 wheelchairs and boxes of spare parts were left there. Our 

                 club's contribution was approx. $3000, the Interactors contributed, $2900, and

                 $18,000 came from Rotary International. Great Project.

                     June 10 - Mariposa - Fine Art and Wine Festival - 15 wineries, 30 Sierra Foothill Artist, specialty

                     barbeque, tasting of olive oils and organic breads.

                     June 9-10th - Lodi Sunrise - 5th Annual American Cancer Society Lodi Relay for Life.

 

                                                

                                            Make-up your missed meetings


              If you go to attend a Rotary club meeting at the time and place of their regularly scheduled        

              meeting and that club does not meet, you still get credit for a make-up.

              For those of you who find it difficult making-up at a local club, try making up on the Internet. 

              While you won't have your account credited with $12 (since it doesn't cost anything at most

              e-clubs to make up online), you will however have your attendance credited which help 

              and the club.                  

              Just notify President Mark after you make-up and tell him the date of the meeting you missed, the 

              date you made up and where you made up (the club applies the 4-way test).
